Virgin Media, the UK's leading communications and entertainment company, has today revealed it has achieved its goal of eliminating landfill waste from its supply chain, reduced the energy usage of its flagship television service by a third and is taking a new approach to boosting accessibility for customers.

The company's 2013 digital that makes good things happen' update on sustainability goals shows how the cable company met its target to send zero waste to landfill from its supply chain 12 months ahead of schedule, and sets out its 2014 targets.

Having pioneered digital reporting five years ago, Virgin Media's latest sustainability update is delivered by apprentice, Josh Steele; senior business development manager, Sheena Amin; and in-store sales executive Kevin Pindi who each provide a video snapshot of the company's 2013 performance.

The update also includes details of Virgin Media's dedicated accessibility programme, helping everyone live an independent digital life' including a number of customer initiatives as well as reporting the efforts it has taken to raise awareness of accessibility issues among staff and external stakeholders.

Katie Buchanan, Head of Sustainability at Virgin Media said: We're very proud with the progress our teams have made, particularly in waste from our logistics supply chain and cutting the energy consumption of our hugely popular TiVo boxes by a third.

This year Virgin Media is further opening up the way it communicates sustainability issues, launching a dedicated online hub for sharing and celebrating the ways digital makes good things happen across businesses, communities and in people's lives.
