Costa-Gavras and lex de la Iglesia, Luis Bu uel prize at the Festival de Huesca Ambas cinematograf as proponen una visi n de la realidad centrada en los problemas de la sociedad, que viaja desde los grandes conflictos de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, en el caso de Gavras, hasta la cotidianeidad del d a a d a en el caso de De la Iglesia.

El 45 Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca ha querido reconocer en esta ocasi n la trayectoria de dos de los realizadores m s destacados del cine europeo actual. Ambos se han mostrado muy honrados por el galard n y han manifestado su orgullo tanto por tratarse de un reconocimiento del Festival como por llevar el nombre de Luis Bu uel. Ambas cinematograf as proponen una visi n de la realidad centrada en los problemas de la sociedad, que viaja desde los grandes conflictos de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, en el caso de Gavras, hasta la cotidianeidad del d a a d a en el caso de De la Iglesia.

El Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca homenajea en su 45 aniversario a Costa-Gavras y Alex de la Iglesia, quienes reciben en la capital altoaragonesa sendos reconocimientos a toda su trayectoria y filmograf as. Azucena Garanto, directora del Festival, ha manifestado en rueda de prensa el orgullo que para el certamen altoaragon s supone tener a dos hombres tan importantes de la historia del cine, ambos provenientes de alguna forma del mundo del cortometraje, esencia de este Festival .

Ambos cineastas se han mostrado honrados por el galard n. Costa-Gavras, reconoci que recibir un premio con el nombre de uno de los m s grandes del cine era todo un honor. Por su parte, lex de Iglesia demostr su profunda admiraci n por el cineasta franco-griego. Tener la oportunidad de conocer al maestro, es un honor, un orgullo, es un privilegio para m estar aqu . Representa un tipo de cine nico, uno que nos va a costar mucho imitar, que igual es imposible repetir , declar el director bilba no.

De la Iglesia apunt a la necesidad de que existan m s directores que, como Costa-Gavras, expliquen c mo funciona el mundo: Todos estamos asustados por el mundo ante el que nos encontramos y gracias a las pel culas del maestro eso nos resulta comprensible . En un ejercicio de repaso a su trayectoria, el realizador franc s record a Jack Lemon. C mo suscit la sorpresa de sus productores al ser propuesto por Gavras para protagonizar Missing por tratarse de un actor m s vinculado a la comedia. Por la implicaci n del propio Lemon en la cinta, aceptando el gui n tan s lo dos d as despu s de recibirlo. Fue esto lo que hizo que descubriera que en una pel cula se pod an decir las cosas de una manera diferente. Los actores son los que verdaderamente cuenta la historia al espectador .

Gavras manifest que no hace un discurso pol tico ni acad mico. Creo que hacemos espect culo pero con los problemas de la sociedad. El papel del cine es eso .

lex de la Iglesia apoyando lo manifestado por Costa-Gavras, argument que si no se hace m s cine como el del realizador franco-griego es porque no somos los suficientemente valientes .

Los nombres de Costa-Gavras y Alex de la Iglesia se unen as a un largo listado de premiados donde se encuentran iconos como Jos Luis Borau, Stephen Frears, Bertrand Tavernier, Carlos Saura, Aki Kaurismaki, los hermanos Vittorio y Apolo Taviani, ngela Molina o el pasado a o Jean Claude Carri re, doble premio Oscar y guionista del propio Bu uel que a su vez ha trabajado con el propio Gavras. Alex de la Iglesia tambi n tiene una relaci n directa con el maestro de Calanda ya que en su ltimo trabajo, El bar, rinde tributo a El ngel exterminador.

Una particular mirada social

Konstantinos Gavras (Loutra-Iraias -Grecia-, 1933) se traslada a Par s a comienzo de la d cada de los cincuenta. El xito en Francia y Estados Unidos de su primer largometraje, Los ra les del crimen (1965), le sirvieron para sacar adelante sus siguientes proyectos, como Z, que le valdr a el Oscar a Mejor pel cula de habla no inglesa y Mejor montaje, el Globo de Oro a Mejor pel cula extranjera, el Premio del Jurado y a Mejor actor del Festival de Cannes, adem s de varias nominaciones a los Premios BAFTA, consiguiendo el de Mejor m sica, entre otros.

Ya en los setenta rueda La Confesi n and Estado de sitio, con las que Costa Gavras se consagrar como cineasta comprometido y dota a sus pel culas de una conciencia no s lo social sino tambi n pol tica; ambas cintas obtienen el respaldo un nime de la cr tica y optan al Globo de Oro a mejor pel cula extranjera. A partir de la d cada de los 80, vendr an Desaparecido, con el que conseguir a la Palma de Oro del Festival de Cannes y el Premio Oscar; Clair de femme con Romy Schneider e Yves Montand, Hanna K con Jill Clayburgh y Jean Yanne, Consejo de familia con Fanny Ardant y Remi Martin, El sendero de la traici n con Debra Winger y Tom Berenger, o La caja de m sica con Jessica Lange y Armin Mueller-Stahl.

Su ltimo trabajo detr s de las c maras ser a en El Capital, un film que explora un tema tan actual como la inestabilidad y la corrupci n del sistema financiero y que compiti por la Concha de Oro del Festival de San Sebasti n.

lex de la Iglesia (Bilbao, 1965) se inicia en el mundo cinematogr fico con el cortometraje Mirindas asesinas, un film con el que el directo bilba no buscaba poner de relieve el desinter s de algunas personas por lo que pasa a su alrededor. Su primera pel cula Acci n Mutante, se convierte en ganadora de tres Premios Goya. El d a de la bestia (1995) ser a la pel cula con la que lex de la Iglesia se consagrar a como uno de los directores m s relevantes del cine espa ol contempor neo, consiguiendo un total de seis Goya. Sus siguientes obras consolidaron su posici n: Perdita Duranto, Muertos de risa, La Comunidad and 800 balas.
