June 24, 2015. A quiet, secluded Essex garden. John Goldfinger Palmer, once one of Britain's richest and most feared gangsters, lies dead. At first, police attending the scene think it's nothing suspicious. Six days later comes the bombshell revelation, Palmer has been shot six times. There are no witnesses, and the killer has left no forensic trail. Its an underworld murder that shocks the world, leaving the global press asking, Who killed Goldfinger?

Now, 10 years on from that fateful day and with police no closer to solving Palmer's murder, this gripping Sky Documentaries series will re-examine his death and investigate the multiple theories that still linger to this day on why he was killed.

Across three propulsive episodes, The Essex Murders: Who Killed Goldfinger? takes viewers on a gripping journey through the changing face of crime over a thirty-year period. From the zenith of 80s armed robbery, The Brink's-Mat gold heist, through to the sun-soaked 90s timeshare scam that would offer Palmer untold riches while bringing him into dangerous contact with the Russian mafia, global narco-traffickers and the shadowy world of international assassins.

Private investigators TM Eye, led by ex-Met detective David McKelvey, will re-examine Palmer's murder as part of a present-day investigation that will take them from Essex to Tenerife, Ireland and on to Lithuania in a gripping hunt for Palmer's killer.

Featuring exclusive testimony from Palmer's family and close associates, some talking on camera for the very first time, and an extraordinary cast of characters on both sides of the law, the series will delve into Palmer's much-storied life to answer many of the questions that still shroud his unsolved murder.
