Antenna Group and Telekom Slovenije Announce a Joint Venture Antenna Group, a leading European media investment company and Telekom Slovenije, one of the largest telecommunications groups in South-East Europe, announced today that they have formed a joint-venture to operate a TV channel and develop television business in Slovenia. The Planet TV channel, which began with transmission of a full programme schedule in November 2012, will be owned by a partnership in which Antenna will hold a 51% share and Telekom Slovenije's subsidiary TSmedia a 49% share.

Founded in Greece in 1988 and privately owned by the Kyriakou family, Antenna has developed as an international group with interests in Free TV, Pay TV, radio, music, magazine publishing, television production and digital media. Its operations cover Greece, Cyprus, Serbia, Montenegro, the United States, Europe and Australia. The Group continues to expand its activities geographically and into new media segments such as thematic channels and internet.

Theodore M. Kyriakou, Antenna Group CEO, announced the new investment: Slovenia is part of our strategy to become a leading media company in South-East Europe. It is a region we know well and have a successful track record in, however, Slovenia is a new country for Antenna. Partnering with TSmedia and combining our expertise, creates the right environment for Planet TV to thrive in its domestic market.

Rudolf Skobe, President of the Telekom Slovenije Management Board, commented: At the time of planning the Planet TV, we looked for an experienced broadcaster to lead the station's growth. The Slovenian TV and media scene is highly competitive, where only the very best can thrive. We believe that our partnership with Antenna will ensure that Planet TV is attractive for the viewers and advertisers.

TSmedia also operates some of the most frequently visited web portals in Slovenia such as Planet Siol.net and najdi.si. According to Toma Pernovek, TSmedia Managing Director: The digital conversion necessitates a close co-operation between linear and non-linear audio-visual services. From this perspective, the potential synergies between our company and the newly created joint-venture are extremely promising.

Planet TV will continue offering entertainment, news, locally produced shows, the UEFA Champions League, and some of the best international films and series. Our programs will be attractive to the broadest Slovenian audience, with particular focus on the attractive demographic segment of viewers between 18 and 49 years of age, added the joint-venture's General Manager Pavel Stanchev, who is bringing 20 years of experience in launching and successfully managing media and TV brands in the region. I believe that our international experience and access to the attractive content supported by local knowledge will bring benefits to the Slovenian TV audience and media market.
