Milab to restart production

Iconic Swedish mic manufacturer back in action

Legendary Swedish microphone manufacturer Milab have announced that production is now fully underway, and microphones are leaving their factory once again! The news comes after the company announced bankruptcy in August 2025, with the revival led by David Stenmarck of Epidemic Sound/IMRSV and music technology veteran and entrepreneur Andreas Liffgarden.

Originally established in Sweden 1939 as Pearl Microphones, Milab have earned global recognition for their uncompromising craftsmanship, technical innovation and distinctive microphone designs, with their range trusted by broadcasters, studios and artists around the world. The team say that company's collapse last year marked the end of an era, but also the beginning of a powerful new chapter, with the new leaders assembling a team of world-class engineers, designers and industry specialists with the aim of restoring Milab to their rightful place in professional audio .

Reviving MILAB is both a responsibility and a privilege. This is a brand deeply rooted in Swedish audio excellence, and also an important, largely untold part of the Swedish music wonder. Manufacturing has restarted in Sweden and is being led by Production Manager Hans Svensson, who has been involved with building Milab microphones for the past 40 years. The flagship VIP-60 is once again in production, and Milab say they are reaffirming their commitment to precision engineering, premium materials and sound quality without compromise.

Alongside the return of the fan favourites, the company say they are already developing new product lines that expand beyond their classic portfolio, combining Milab's signature sonic character with next- generation engineering. Upcoming releases will include both modern studio tools and innovative designs aimed at meeting the evolving demands of today's producers, artists and broadcast professionals. Exact details of what that may include remain a closely guarded secret, although the leadership have stated that product development is moving at full speed. We'll of course be keeping a close eye on what happens next, and will be sure to get some information up in SOS News as soon as there's something to report!
