Free tool for annotating audio files
Mix Notes is a new, free iOS App that provides users with a simple way to annotate their audio files. It's been created by Nashville-based mix engineer David Thomas, who said he developed it after discovering that there was no existing tool that carried out such a task in a simple and effective way.
The resulting creation combines a simple audio player with a set of preset note buttons that cover common mix critiques: level and tuning issues on instrument or vocal parts, glitches, timing problems and so on - there's also a Custom option that allows users to enter their own text or voice notes. Tapping on the buttons during playback leaves a timestamped note which can be referred to back in the studio.
Compatibility Mix Notes is supported on iPhone/iPads running iOS/iPadOS 18.2 or later.
