NAB 2026: Calrec to Showcase IP Ecosystem and Plethora of New Products

At NAB 2026, Calrec (booth C6907) will IP Ecosystem powered by True Control 2.0, integrating the company's IP-native Argo consoles - including the U.S. debut of the 48-fader Argo M - and Type R modular IP mixing system, networked with an ImPulse IP processing core and ImPulseV virtualized audio mixing engine.

Calrec will also make a major announcement at NAB 2026 that unlocks more freedom for broadcasters adopting hybrid workflows, offering greater flexibility and choice in how they configure Calrec workflows.

New Argo M: U.S. Debut

Calrec's compact IP-native 48-fader Argo M audio console with integrated DSP will make its U.S. debut at NAB. Featuring up to 356 channels of internal DSP, Argo M is available in a 24, 36 and new 48-fader footprint. It supports plug-and-play ST2110 and cloud connectivity. The ability to connect Argo M to an ST2110 networked environment and to an existing Calrec ImPulse core alongside other Argo surfaces means broadcasters can create multi-console IP environments. Connectivity to ImPulse, ImPulse1 and ImPulseV allows additional external DSP paths to be added as production demands change.

Software Updates and Feature Preview

Argo v1.4.24, available immediately, provides operator enhancements to the existing 1.4 feature set. Type R v3.2, due in Q2 following NAB, delivers improved Mix Minus outputs, Assist Upstand meter tiles, Off Air record contribution dialogue, and Syslog support. Calrec will also preview Argo Offline Assist, allowing offline configuration, available in Q4.

ImPulseV Virtualization

New for NAB 2026, Calrec will preview ImPulseV running on virtualized server hardware. ImPulseV creates workflows across multiple platforms - whether COTS hardware, public cloud, private cloud, or existing processing hardware. It uses the same interface as Calrec's hardware consoles and can be controlled from any Argo or True Control 2.0-enabled console or via the Assist web UI. Calrec will demonstrate a 24-fader Argo M console with ImPulseV cloud DSP, deployable across multiple hosting environments.

Calrec's IP Ecosystem powered by True Control 2.0 allows users to blend on-premise infrastructure with remote operations and virtual cloud resources. A single controller can manage up to five other Calrec consoles or processing cores simultaneously. Calrec will demonstrate True Control 2.0 by linking consoles on the booth to a Calrec console in California. True Control 2.0 delivers full feature-set parameters over EQ, dynamics, routing, direct outputs and delay.

Argo S

Calrec is bringing its 48-fader Argo S console to NAB 2026, running a major software update. The new v1.4 Argo software delivers enhanced routing strip functionality, customizable tiles for upstand meter layouts, streamlined Mix Minus workflow, DAW control of MIDI, and improvements to NMOS Control, monitoring, and Calrec Connect interfacing.

Argo Q

Calrec will demonstrate its 36-fader Argo Q audio mixing console paired with an ImPulse core on a True Control 2.0 network. Argo Q is designed for broadcast operations that require high channel counts and precise control.

Type R

Calrec will showcase its Type R modular, expandable IP mixing system, controlled by True Control 2.0. Type R's fully 5.1 capable IP core supports virtual working practices and automated broadcast workflows on a SMPTE 2110-compliant IP backbone. Key features include off air record, enhanced GPIO talkback, monitor selector follow, mix minus bus user labels and a large DSP pack with 32 aux buses.
