Shade, a file management platform for creative teams, has announced a $14 million funding round led by Khosla Ventures, Construct Capital, and Bling Capital, bringing the company's total funding to $20 million. Keith Rabois will join the board as part of the round. Existing investors General Catalyst, SignalFire, and Contrary also participated.
The company says it has ingested more than 60 million assets in the past nine months, working with brands, agencies, and sports organizations.
Shade's platform is designed to serve as a single storage system for creative workflows, covering file access, search, review, and archive. The platform allows users to stream large files directly into non-linear editing systems without downloading, with AI-powered tagging, transcription, and analysis applied during ingest. Review tools sync comments directly to NLE timelines.
The company plans to use the new funding across four areas: user experience improvements, expanded AI-powered search across video, image, and text modalities, support for custom business objects and no-code workflow automation, and developer tools for platform extensibility including a planned Shade App Store.
