Mywud%20Ent.%20Signs%20Odyssey%20Pictures%20As%20%20Producer%20&%20Representative>
Mywud Entertainment, helmed by filmmaker Rakesh Kumar, has retained Odyssey Pictures Corporation and CEO John Foster as its producers representative for the new indie drama After Ever After.
Odyssey Pictures is a long-established entity in the entertainment industry, financing and distributing such major films as Sniper, Wuthering Heights, and the acclaimed HBO documentary And the Band Played On. More recently, the company has specialized in providing independent filmmakers with Producers Representative Services. Odyssey offers an extensive suite of sales and marketing services to TV and film producers seeking to gain traction in the international distribution and rights markets. Odyssey CEO Foster will assist Mywud with domestic and international distribution, film festival submissions, contract negotiation and general counsel.
After Ever After marks the industry debut of Kumar, who writes, directs and stars in the drama. His script is based on his own life, loss and struggles after losing multiple loved ones to cancer and Alzheimers in a condensed period of time. Kumars ambition to create the film centers on his life long quest to define the state of happiness.
After Ever After is a solid dramatic offering for both general and niche audiences, said John Foster of Odyssey Pictures. Rakesh Kumar is a gifted filmmaker who has created a powerful story about loss and redemption. I expect it will have a very successful specified release and I have already received positive responses from our initial submissions.
After Ever After centers on Nik Patel, a father and physician who struggles with the idea and false promise of Happy Ever After while his daughter lies dying of Leukemia, the same disease that claimed his wife several years before. It takes the intermittent memories of Patels patient, a long-forgotten Jazz legend suffering with Alzheimers to teach Nik that, while life is not a fairytale, we can all find our happy ending.
