Vizrt unveils extension supporting Unreal Engine at NAB 2017

The merging of the gaming and media industries will allow for a new way of visualizing content on Vizrt's booth at NAB 2017.

Virtual sets, augmented reality graphics, and other visual storytelling methods are becoming more common as tools for the media industry to capture viewer interest. Meanwhile, the capabilities of the gaming industry have increased to a point where the same visualization techniques can be used for live production.

Vizrt is working with Epic and Ncam to merge the visualization methods in gaming and broadcast together for a creative and powerful new design capability. Vizrt will display the combination of these worlds in the Big AR Show, the biggest live augmented reality show at NAB 2017 on stand SL2416.

Viz Artist gives media companies the seamless functionality of template-based graphics. When we combine these with elements from Unreal Engine and the gaming world, we are crushing creative barriers for media companies once more. This capability can be used in any situation from playing out simple lower-thirds, adding graphics to a timeline using our NLE tools, to complex virtual sets and augmented reality. said Gerhard Lang, Chief Engineering Officer for Vizrt.

Unreal in the real worldNew for NAB 2017: Vizrt will demonstrate Epic's Unreal Engine 4 rendering assets inside Viz Engine. Demonstrations will include using character assets as augmented reality elements and how designers can work with the assets in the Viz Artist 3D design application.

Vizrt's long term partnership with Ncam is further strengthened by utilising Ncam's Unreal Engine plugin architecture to help enable seamless integration into Viz Engine.

The combination of gaming assets with live production tools from Vizrt gives the eSports industry a way to integrating their design and production techniques with those of the media industry. This creates a set of tools that will allow eSports viewers to enjoy watching content on any platform while also broadening eSports in reach of traditional viewers all over the world, concluded Vizrt's Gerhard Lang.
