PROTON to Showcase FLEXY Micro POV Camera at SATIS 2026

PROTON Camera Innovations GmbH will show the PROTON FLEXY at SATIS 2026 (Booth A13-B12), after the camera won a Best in Market award in the ProAV category at IBC2026. The FLEXY is a micro POV camera with a flexible architecture that separates the lens head from the body.

The imaging head connects to the processing unit and power supply through a 50-ohm coax cable of up to 10 meters with SMA connectors. PROTON says this lets crews place the small head in high-risk or space-constrained locations while the processor and power supply stay accessible, and that a lens can be swapped at much lower cost than replacing a whole camera.

The IP67-rated head comes in a 19mm lipstick configuration or a 19x19mm square option. Both use a 1/3-inch global shutter sensor with 12-bit dynamic range, delivering 1080p through PROTON's VEGA image processor. Power draw is 3W across a 6.5-25V range, with heat concentrated in the ECU rather than the head, which PROTON says makes the camera easier to integrate into tight, temperature-sensitive spaces.

PROTON says the camera head accounts for about one-third of the total system cost. That allows production teams to mount it in locations at high risk of impact, such as bumpers, roll cages and suspension components in motorsport. If the head is damaged, it can be replaced through a standard SMA connection. The company also points to uses in reality TV, live entertainment, concert coverage and body-worn applications where a standard camera would be too large, too hot or too hazardous.

The FLEXY joins PROTON's range of miniature broadcast cameras, which offer different feature sets including zoom, 4K capture, weatherproofing, image stabilization, 3D applications, specific form factors, and larger sensors with a global shutter.

The Best in Market award at IBC was a wonderful acknowledgment of what the FLEXY makes possible. But the real excitement is in what our customers are already doing with it.
