Media Controller - Production Operations Johannesburg

Checking and maintain technical quality of delivered and required content for editing, processing and playout, Quality Checking using waveform and vectorscope monitoring tools, Ingest tapes, hard drives and file media from various formats to various server platforms(Avid ISIS, Medway and VizArdome)

Manage media traffic flow to and from encoders and identify audio and video defects

Ensuring the optimization of Production Operations workflows to achieve optimal efficiencies

Taking full ownership and responsibility for the content delivered and quality checked before editing and further processing on a regular basis

Working closely with editors, producers, traffic, channels and programme acceptance to quality check their content.

Initiating video and audio errors, and update stakeholders accordingly

Staying abreast of developments in the media quality control field through reading, research and networking, and proactively improving the operations in line with international best practice.

Education & Experience

A tertiary related qualification (A+ and or N+) in operational / technical broadcast environment is essential

Formal technical training and qualifications

At least 3-5 years relevant experience in quality assurance within Broadcast, ICR or MCR environment

Intimate knowledge of workflows and media processing

Specialist knowledge of playout operations and systems

Technical skills:

o Broadcast technical formats and standards

o Equipment troubleshooting

o Quality controlling and checklists

o Media management

Computer Skills:

o Operating Systems

o Microsoft Office systems
