Aalto Studios Expands with Avid to Give Students Acce to Industry-leading Production Tools

Finland's leading media education center deploys a complete Avid post-production workflow including Avid NEXIS software-defined storage and the largest Pro Tools | S6 installation in the Nordic region to prepare students for future success

Burlington, MA, June 2, 2017 - Avid (Nasdaq: AVID), a leading global media technology provider for the creation, distribution and monetization of media assets for global media organizations, enterprise users and individual creative professionals, today announced that Aalto Studios, the audiovisual R&D center at Finland's University of Art and Design Helsinki, has broadened its investment in Avid solutions to give students access to cutting-edge technology.

Owned by Aalto University, Aalto Studios also serves other universities, research institutions and companies, with a special focus on cross-media content production and practice-based research, spanning film, TV, games, VR/AR, and new media. As part of a leading Finnish education facility, Aalto Studios needed to upgrade its aging infrastructure with cutting-edge technology in order to educate future generations of media professionals. As part of its ongoing renovations, it decided to expand its investment in Avid's comprehensive media creation tools and workflow solutions with a new audio post and mixing workflow powered by the MediaCentral Platform, the industry's most open, tightly integrated and efficient platform designed for media.

To update its aging storage infrastructure, Aalto Studios chose an Avid NEXIS | E2 system, the world's first software-defined storage platform that enables true storage virtualization. Taking advantage of Avid's competitive educational pricing, Aalto Studios has invested in Avid Pro Tools | S6 mixing consoles, providing students with superior ergonomics and intelligent studio control, as well as the cloud collaboration capabilities of Pro Tools.
