Toya Delazy teams up with Cartoon Network --

Cartoon Network has announced that they have teamed up with Toya Delazy, popular South African jazz-electro-hip-pop muso, to create an all-African, localised theme song for the re-launch of Cartoon Network s longstanding original series, The Powerpuff Girls. The show will launch on television screens across the continent, exclusively on DStv channel 301 from 30 April 2016 at 10h55.
The theme song sung and produced by Delazy, will represent the Powerpuff Girls on the African continent with a colourful, local interpretation of the US indie pop band Tacocat s recording of the new theme song for the global launch of the all new The Powerpuff Girls series.
When Cartoon Network approached me to localise the new Powerpuff Girls theme song recorded by US indie pop band, Tacocat, I first listened to the original song and I had an instant connection with the lyrics fighting crime and saving the world before bedtime. This was one of my childhood dreams growing up in South Africa and I am truly excited to be part of this amazing project, says Toya Delazy.
The new series, created by Cartoon Network Studios in Los Angeles, will be executively produced by Nick Jennings, who won an Emmy Award for his work on Cartoon Network s Adventure Time, and co-executively produced by Bob Boyle.
