Companies partner to provide fast, reliable, and secure Internet content delivery for global enterprises expanding into China

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. May 26, 2015 Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader in Content Delivery Network (CDN) services, today announced a strategic partnership agreement with China Unicom Corporation Limited's cloud division - CU Cloud. CU Cloud is one of the largest cloud computing service providers in China. As part of the strategic partnership, CU Cloud has agreed to complement its own Cloud services for global businesses with Akamai's full suite of industry-leading media delivery, web performance, and cloud security offerings.

The partnership is designed to enable close cooperation between the two companies in the areas of technology and network access, thus strengthening Akamais China CDN offering for accelerating content from global customers to Chinese consumers. In addition, both parties will continue to develop the opportunity to provide the best service to Chinese enterprises to grow their web presence globally.

Under the partnership, CU Cloud plans to leverage Akamai for CDN technology that will be available for the delivery of its Cloud services. Akamai enables operators to deploy a highly scalable, completely turnkey CDN that leverages the same technologies found within the Akamai Intelligent Platform .

China Unicom is a major carrier in China, serving the global Internet market, said Noam Freedman, Senior Vice President of Akamais global networks division. Were excited to be partnering with CU Cloud to tap into the fast-growing China cloud and CDN market. Akamai sees increased demand for delivering content to Chinese Internet users from global customers. With this strategic partnership, we believe Akamai is best positioned to serve this growing need.
