Media Links EMEA Opens New Demo & Training Center

Media Links, market leader in technology solutions to transport broadcast media content over IP, announces the opening of its new test lab at its expanded EMEA base in Stansted, conveniently located about half an hour from London. In addition to being Media Links' Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) headquarters, the facility expands the company's demo and training center for customers and partners. The new suite improves the capacity to welcome visitors from around the globe. Visitors to the center can see Media Links' solutions in action around a number of applications including: media transport platforms supporting uncompressed and compressed video over IP networks for sports and other events.

Media Links is known world-wide for its adaptable, reliable and flexible range of solutions for transporting uncompressed or compressed 3G, HD-SDI, SD-SDI and DVB-ASI video protocols as well as compressed 4K. Customers who deploy Media Links' IP Transport networks can save up to a third of their logistic costs by connecting in-studio facilities, equipment and workflow with each arena, stadium, or venue. Scalable and modular configurations can be matched to the demands of a specific event, production or content delivery requirement. Specifically, the MD8000 transport platform offers robust redundancy with a hitless operation, low-latency, bi-directional operation and the ability to operate with a variety of compression schemes.

As part of our new test lab, Media Links' full range of equipment will demonstrate a live sporting event application showing how 4K/60P, HD-SDI/3G-SDI camera feeds and data traffic can be sent from remote venues directly to the studio, explains John Smith, managing director of Media Links EMEA. Once at the studio, all production and editing can take place. This demo will show how Media Links' solutions move media over IP all around the world for mission-critical events.

In addition, the facility will showcase Media Link's new MDP3020 next generation JPEG2000 Decoder/Encoder, a small, portable IP media gateway edge device equally suited to receiving and transmitting high quality video and audio and efficient backhauling of tunnelled data. Customers and partners will have the ability to experience how mobile and user-friendly the device really is. A variety of applications wil be demonstrated showing its ease of use for contribution, distribution and point-to-point / multi-point applications where economical content conversion and agile low-cost deployments are a must.

In addition to being a state-of-the-art demo facility, the lab will also serve to provide clients with remote support for installations across EMEA.
