Will Goodbody Appointed As Science & Technology Correspondent 04 April 2013: RT News and Current Affairs have appointed Will Goodbody as its first Science and Technology Correspondent.

This is a new role designed to enhance RT 's coverage of this important area across all RT 's services.

The Managing Director of RT News and Current Affairs, Kevin Bakhurst said: This is an important appointment for RT News and it underlines RT 's renewed commitment to our coverage of science and technology. It means we will be able to cover and break a wider range of science stories and bring a specialist understanding to this important part of Irish and international News.

Will has a long-standing interest in this area and will bring an energy and enthusiasm to the subject, combined with strong journalistic credentials. He has been reporting on technology and science stories for over a decade in print, on radio, on TV and online - from the dotcom boom to bust right through to the latest scientific and technological breakthroughs today. He has a strong track record of breaking stories in the area and an established network of contacts. He has also been to the fore in using new media and technology in the increasingly multimedia journalism environment.

Since joining RT , Will Goodbody has reported extensively on television, radio, online and mobile, from home and abroad, on some of the biggest breaking domestic and international news stories. Most recently, he reported live from Nicosia on the financial crisis in Cyprus. He has also covered the London bombings, the Ryan, Murphy and Cloyne reports, the Morris, Moriarty and Mahon tribunals, and the death of Pope John Paul II.

Will joined RT in July 2003 as a reporter and occasional editor on its flagship morning radio news programme, Morning Ireland on RT Radio 1. In 2005 he moved to the news desk, from where he worked as a general news journalist in Dublin and around the country and later as a reporter for the Six-One News and Nine OClock News and part-time Deputy Programme Editor for RT News.

Prior to joining RT , Will worked as a television reporter for TV3 News in Dublin and around the country, covering stories including 9/11 and the 2002 General Election. Before being recruited by TV3 News, Will was a business journalist at the Sunday Business Post, where he reported on general business and later market news around the time of the dotcom bubble and its demise.

He holds a first class honours MA in Journalism from Dublin City University and a first class honour BA in Political Science from Trinity College Dublin.
