Kickstarter campaign for social impact feature Zulu Wilderne: Shadow and Soul

One Nature Films launched their first ever Kickstarter campaign on 16 February 2015, with a goal to raise £67,000 within a month, to fund the development of their first social impact narrative feature film Zulu Wilderness: Shadow and Soul'.

Zulu Wilderness: Shadow and Soul' tells the story of Ian Player's friendship with Magqubu Ntombela, a traditional Zulu man who becomes Ian's spiritual mentor and bush guide, and helps him face his shadow and embrace his destiny: a spiritual quest immersed in the soul and spirit of the African wilderness.

Shadow and Soul' is a highly timely film in the light of the devastating rhino poaching situation throughout Africa, but mainly in South Africa says Ronit Shapiro, CEO & Founder of One Nature Films, fuelled by beliefs in traditional Eastern medicine that rhino horn has powerful medicinal qualities and in recent years also promoted as a Status' symbol amongst aspiring and wealthy consumers in Asia, rhino horn has surpassed the price of gold and illegal drugs and is at the centre of a bloody poaching war.

The film Zulu Wilderness: Shadow and Soul' inspired by a book with the same title by acclaimed conservationist, the late Dr. Ian Player, who passed away at the end of 2014, will link the historic Zulu Wilderness' story, set in Apartheid South Africa, to the Story of Our Time', the escalating rhino poaching situation, the growing disconnection between humanity and the natural world and the mounting racial intolerance in the world today.

The late South African president Nelson Mandela wrote in the introduction to Zulu Wilderness: Shadow and Soul' -- This book is Ian Player's tribute to Magqubu Ntombela and the remarkable friendship which grew in the wild. Their relationship and their commitment not only to each other but also to the conservation of wilderness is a shining example of the spirit of the people of this country .

It is our hope that this spirit will inspire hope for people and nations, which still struggle to listen, respect and be compassionate to each other says Ronit.

Kickstarter works on the basis that a project must raise ALL the target amount within the campaign's duration. If we don't raise all the money, we will not get a penny.

Ronit will be promoting the Kickstarter campaign globally on social media networks and other means and is asking for support to raise the target goal of £67,000 and beyond.

Filmmaking is expensive; especially when we aim to make a high quality narrative feature film with a theatrical global release so that as many people as possible will watch it. says Ronit so far the project has been mainly self-funded by myself, with small contributions from close friends and family but self-financing can only take us so far.

The project uses the Kickstarter crowd-funding platform to promote its vision and collate financial contributions from supporters. We are asking for your support to make this film says Ronit in an emotional plea in the campaign's video.
