Hispasat 1 c after seventeen years in service "rests" already in a graveyard orbit The third satellite of the Hispasat fleet has effectively provided service from two orbital positions, 30 and 84 West.

The Hispasat 1 c satellite was launched on February 3, 2000 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, aboard of the Atlas IIAS rocket, the ILS company. Built by Thales Alenia Space Company, was located in the orbital position 30 West (Hispasat 30W-3). With this satellite Hispasat began in 2003 the marketing of its broadband services in Latin America, which have been used by more than 20 clients of the operator in the region. In addition, the capacity of the Hispasat 1 c has been used for projects of e-learning, as the Plan Ceibal of Uruguay or the program Subtel in Chile, MEDNET project of tele-medicine in Peru, to connect remote areas of Antarctica in Argentina or the development of energy industries, livestock and fisheries in various areas of the region.

Based on the Spacebus B2 platform, satellite had 24 transponders in Ku-band and its main services were the distribution of television channels, both in Europe and in America, and other telecommunications solutions, such as corporate networks and broadband applications. Throughout its useful life, the Hispasat 1 c has made 22.850 transmissions and more than 1,200 maneuvers controlled from Earth, and has witnessed 1,544 eclipses of Earth and moon 36.

In 2014, after an agreement reached between Hispasat and Star One, the satellite was derived to the position 84 degrees West and was renamed Hispasat 84W-1. Since this new Brazilian position he continued providing service to Latin America, mainly Internet access and IP communications.

years and has been a privilege to have counted with the participation of Spanish industry in its development. A part of this technological success, together with Thales Alenia Space, the manufacturer of the satellite company undoubtedly corresponds to it".

El sat lite termina as su viaje desde 84 Oeste, a 36.000 Km. de distancia de la Tierra, hacia los 36.300 Km., donde ha sido definitivamente ubicado en la denominada rbita cementerio , tal y como establecen las recomendaciones de la Uni n Internacional de Telecomunicaciones (UIT) y el Comit de Coordinaci n Inter-Agencia de Basura Espacial (Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee), para el buen mantenimiento de la rbita geoestacionaria cuando un sat lite finaliza su vida til.
