AFP's teams will be at the heart of the action at the Rio Olympics and the Euro 2016 football championship to provide more enriched, interactive and live content than ever.
AFP will be all about sport in 2016, dedicating major editorial and technical resources.
More than 350 Agency staff will provide coverage in text, photo, video, infographics and videographics of these major sports events.
The Euro 2016 in France
Some 600 dispatches in six languages (French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Arabic) will enrich the Agency's sports production daily.
More than 2,000 photos of events on and off the pitch will be transmitted daily in real time. AFP clients will also be able to access the Agency's archives back to 1960 via a folder on AFP Forum. The photo coverage will include thematic galleries featuring referees, supporters and offbeat topics like tattoos and there will be a daily selection of the best images.
Throughout the tournament, more than 400 videos will be distributed in six languages focusing on news related to the Euro. AFPTV teams will also provide daily live coverages.
More than 120 infographics in each of the Agency's languages will illustrate the team lineups and the fixture list. There will also be a dozen videographics.
AFP's football experts will provide minute-by-minute live commentary on every match for web and mobile platforms and public screens. Illustrated live commentaries will be enriched by team lineups, key match facts, match reports and analyses and Tweets. News feeds will give at-a-glance access to the key quotes from players and team coaches and to the daily highlights.
AFP will also offer a custom HTML application. Interactive and ready to use, it will be available in all the Agency's languages. It will feature real time results and a match calendar, team rankings and scorers, the referees and stadium descriptions. Optional content incudes live illustrated commentaries, the daily photo gallery, videos and 3D videos of goals, general statistics on the Euro and match and competition prognostics.
The Rio Olympics
AFP will increase its live coverage offer to capture all of the action. Live reports will follow each day's action using the best of AFP production text, photos, videos, graphics and Tweets, enriched with content from reports on the ground.
Some 300 videos in six languages will be distributed. The complete daily coverage will include interviews with the medalists, IOC news conferences, reactions from supporters and all the news surrounding from the competitions. Feature stories will focus on the atmosphere of the Games, the athletes and the disciplines. Live feeds will follow the key events in real time as well as behind the scenes stories.
Up to 1,000 photos will be distributed daily. Photo archives of previous Games will be available on AFP Forum. Thematic slideshows and a selection of the best photos of Rio 2016 will also be provided.
Around 600 dispatches in all of the Agency's languages will feature the key events of the day as well as news from behind the scenes and from the Olympic Village. AFP shall also provide bios of the 50 Olympic Stars of Rio 2016 and of the 50 greatest Olympic champions, with archive material on previous Olympics and the different disciplines.
Around 60 infographics and a dozen videographics will feature the medal table, descriptions of the competition sites and backgrounders on the Olympic disciplines.
For web and mobile platforms and public screens, text and photo content will feature all aspects of the Games with the key events the day and results feed including the schedule, medal table, podiums, participants and start lineups.
An interactive application, available in all of the Agency's languages, and adaptable for web and mobile platforms, will give one-click access to an events calendar with filters for the day, results, medal table and records. This customisable application can be enriched with optional content such as the best photos of the day, a selection of historic images and videos.
