Sleepout for Calderdale Smartmove

On 27th February 2020, a group of Calrec's finest slept out to raise money for this cause to raise money to help Smartmove. Smartmove work with the homeless and vulnerable to help them formulate a workable plan to secure accommodation. They help with benefit applications, housing and other entitlements, then once they have a home they'll help with furnishings and any assistance with their wellbeing and education.

The team (pictured above in the Calrec car park) completed this challenge and then went to work a full day in the factory. Stuart Rumney, Smartmove's Chief Executive sent through the following message thanking the team for their efforts,

A massive thank you to you and your team for bearing the cold in your quest to support those less fortunate than us. I did my first sleep out six years ago and it was a humbling experience and of course I had the benefit of going home to a warm house, a hot shower and a bacon sandwich! Hope everyone got something out of the evening; it really is thought provoking.

I was told of the positive atmosphere from you all and your overall can-do attitude. We assist Calderdale's vulnerable individuals, families and schools and enjoy much success in returning people back to independence.

We could not do what we do without support from business and community groups and thankfully across Calderdale there is a willingness to go that extra mile. All monies raised will go directly to the clients we support providing food and hygiene starter packs and also to assist schools who identify crisis situations hopefully in time for us to help.

I have sent an individual thank you to each donor but collectively can I express my gratitude collectively to you all. The total is racing towards the £3,000 mark which is just amazing. Thank you from staff, volunteers and importantly the 166 local people we are presently supporting through hard times.
