Amur S Lakshminarayanan (Lakshmi) has been appointed managing director and group chief executive officer designate of Tata Communications.

Lakshmi brings over 35 years of leadership experience, included his role of president and CEO of TCS Japan.

As MD and CEO designate, Lakshmi will advise Tata Communications' Interim Management Committee. The Board will appoint Lakshmi as the MD and CEO upon receipt of the necessary regulatory approvals.

Tata Communications chairperson Renuka Ramnath said: Lakshmi has forged an illustrious career leading some of the biggest businesses for TCS. During this time, he has also developed a deep understanding of the global technology market and enterprises' growing digital demands.
