NAB 2016: Broadcast Pix Emphasizes Video-Over-IP Functionality
with Enhanced Flint Product Line
Billerica, Massachusetts April 18, 2016 Broadcast Pix will demonstrate its enhanced Flint integrated production switcher with significant new IP functionality during the 2016 NAB Show (Booth SL7627), which runs April 18-21 in Las Vegas, Nev. With comprehensive support for NDI and RTSP IP protocols, a new motherboard and processor, as well as the most recent Flint software, the latest version of Flint manages live production from ingest to distribution for meeting coverage, houses of worship, distance learning, webcasting, and many other applications.
This is our most substantial upgrade to Flint since it was introduced in 2013, explained Kevin Prince, CEO of Broadcast Pix. We've overhauled the hardware to make it even more robust, and we've added our BPNet cloud-based IP workflow management system along with support for the dominant IP protocols. It is truly a flexible, all-in-one solution that meets the end-to-end requirements of live production settings.
IP will be supported across the entire Flint product line, including both new and existing systems. BPNet software, in combination with support for the NDI IP protocol, greatly simplifies integration. Flint can ingest multiple NDI inputs over a single GigE connection, and output can be sent directly to other NDI-compliant devices. Flint also accepts native RTSP video streams from many IP cameras, including models from Sony and Panasonic. It is now possible, for example, to build an end-to-end solution over a single Ethernet cable that ingests video, controls cameras, and even provides power to compatible cameras over IP.
New Flint systems can be configured with four network inputs and an NDI-compliant output. Existing Flints can accept two NDI and/or RTSP IP inputs. All Broadcast Pix integrated production switchers support BPNet, the comprehensive service for sharing, converting, distributing, and archiving media files. BPNet software will be an integral feature within Flint switchers, and will also be accessible to collaborators via any PC or mobile device browser. BPNet integrates production beyond the switcher, providing a software foundation that unifies the video, control, and data elements of production.
Flint's multi-format switcher supports HD and SD cameras simultaneously, plus computer files and cloud-based content from Dropbox, Twitter, and other resources. With Broadcast Pix's patented low constant delay, all sources are ingested and scaled while maintaining lip sync. Flint also features three key layers, two clip channels with built-in storage for up to 60 hours of content, and six graphics channels supporting the internal CG.
For complete end-to-end workflow, Flint features integrated HD streaming and live program recording to its internal hard drive. Other built-in tools include a customizable multi-view, file-based macros, controls for cameras and other external devices, and an eight-channel audio mixer controlled through an intuitive on-screen interface. The system supports embedded SDI or HDMI audio from any input, which can be mixed with audio from clips in the built-in clip store. Control options include three different Broadcast Pix control panels, as well as custom BPCommand interfaces for use on touch screens, iPad or Android tablets, or desktop keyboard and mouse.
Flint is available in four I/O configurations, with expanded network inputs and an NDI output in two models (LX-IP and LS-IP). The enhanced Flint will be available this summer.
