Grass Valley Wins Tender to Support France Tlvisions' Move to IP Production for Franceinfo

Grass Valley has announced that France T l visions has completed the first phase of Genesys, its production infrastructure renewal program, for Franceinfo. The channel's production environment has moved from SDI to SMPTE ST 2110, and core production technology has been relocated to a data center more than 30 km from its operations center. The new facility was built and commissioned in parallel with the existing operation and went on air Aug. 31, as Franceinfo marked its tenth anniversary. France T l visions says the facility is part of a broader move toward ST 2110 and data center-based production across the broadcaster.

Grass Valley K-Frame and Kaleido-IP technology form the core of the new production and monitoring environment: an 80 40 K-Frame system with a Kayenne control surface, alongside four Kaleido-IP X440 multiviewers. The system replaces Franceinfo's previous environment, built on Kahuna switching and Kaleido-X multiviewing. K-Frame's UltraMatch functionality provides signal processing within the production workflow, and Kaleido-IP uses the same configuration tools as France T l visions' existing Kaleido-X teams. Grass Valley also provided training as operators moved to the new tools.

Relocating production technology to the data center added complexity, so delivery, integration and commissioning were coordinated to keep the existing Franceinfo facility on air throughout. Red Bee Media France was the systems integrator. The infrastructure is ready to support UHD and HDR and is the foundation for the next phases of Genesys.
