North LTD appoints new creative director --

Having enjoyed great success in launching the Cape Town City Football Club and working with urban property developer, Blok, to build the company s corporate identity, shake up the local real estate marketing game and recently, introduce a new sub-brand called Blok Raw, North LTD has now added the appointment of Gavin Williams as the agency s creative director and copywriter to its list of winning moves.

Founded by Olivier van der Schroeff and Mike Bond in June 2014, North LTD is a multi-disciplined agency that is constantly looking to develop simple, smart, relevant design and marketing solutions for its local and international clientele. Over the past three years, the agency has grown, particularly on the design side, which has seen it attract a diverse range of clients most of whom have been through word of mouth.

Williams expertise in advertising has seen him progress from copywriter at The Jupiter Drawing Room to creative director at FoxP2. In 2014 he went on to direct commercials for the likes of Volkswagen, Burger King, Allan Grey and Nedbank as well as to work on various creative projects, mainly with North. His work has won awards from around the world including Cannes, One Show and D&AD along with a slew of Loeries locally.

In addition, he has written on a number of subjects for an array of publications such as GQ, Top Gear UK, The Times of London, Sports Illustrated, FHM and Signature magazine.

Bond shares: Gavin has already had so much influence in shaping this company. His extraordinary command of the English language, combined with his fanatical attention to detail and obsession with writing and design, make him ideal for the role. He has had a hand in almost every piece of work weve done over the past three years - hes an integral part of Blok s campaigns and has played a big role in the brand delivery of Cape Town City FC. He is already part of the family, we re just making it official. As one of the most awarded South African creatives, Gavin s work speaks for itself, but besides that, he brings so much energy, enthusiasm and experience to the table.

On officially joining the North team, Williams says: We work instinctively together and, as a result, are looking to apply our creative vision to many aspects of our ever-widening field. North has already created some straight-up astonishing work, some of which I was lucky enough to be involved in. I m exceptionally excited about finding new clients and opportunities for us while still being hands-on with the creative side of the business and finding a way to impart some of my 20 plus years of experience in a non-irritating way. I am looking forward to many exciting, new challenges in aspects of this vast business I may not have encountered before...

Looking ahead, North will continue to focus on the product development facet of the business, with this being a big part of the company s middle to long-term growth strategy. Applying our aesthetic and critical design thinking to the various business models we create, excites us greatly. Design and intelligent, creative solutions will always be at the core of what North delivers and Gavin s enthusiasm and love of the spotlight will further enhance and sell our ideas going forward, comments van der Schroeff.

As anyone will tell you, the first two years of a company s existence are the toughest and most crucial. Having successfully navigated into our third year and moved to new premises just off Cape Town s epicentre of cool, Kloof Street, the future looks bright, concludes Bond.
