Encounters South African International Documentary Festival invites entries for 2020

The organisers of Encounters are calling for feature, mid-length and short documentary film entries for the 2020 edition of the Festival. Encounters will deliver a line-up of riveting documentaries from around the globe featuring a wide range of topics: from icons, crimes against humanity, forbidden lives, culture, activism, music, ideology and the cinematic beauties. And this to an audience of 10,000 and growing with the important Audience Awards for local and international films.

Encounters is also a filmmakers festival providing ample opportunity for networking. Last year Encounters hosted 800 participants and, again, will have exciting Industry events on offer. Among these are the:

Submission Details

SA/African Submissions:

African film submissions are exempt.

International Submissions:

https://www.encounters.co.za/submit-international-documentary/

A nominal submission fee of USD15 is charged for International entries

Please note that we will be pleased to consider works in progress / rough cuts if your film will be ready in time for the Festival itself (4 June - 14 June 2020). The final version must, however, be completed at least 3 weeks before the festival commences.

The deadline for submissions is Monday 2 March 2020
