Stellar cast begin shooting The Witness for the Prosecution Company News August 18, 2016

Filming is underway for the new two-part drama produced by the team behind BBC One's hugely successful And Then There Were None, broadcast last Christmas.

The Witness for the Prosecution cast is comprised of Birdman and Bloodline actor Andrea Riseborough in the role of Romaine; Emmy and BAFTA nominee Toby Jones (The Girl, Dad's Army) as Mayhew; Kim Cattrall (Any Human Heart, Sex and the City) as Emily French; David Haig (Penny Dreadful, Mo) in the role of Sir Charles Carter; Monica Dolan (Wolf Hall, Appropriate Adult) as Janet McIntyre and Billy Howle (The Sense of an Ending, Cider with Rosie) as Leonard Vole.

In 1920s London a murder, brutal and bloodthirsty, has stained the plush carpets of a handsome London townhouse. The victim is the glamorous, enormously rich Emily French. All the evidence points to Leonard Vole, a young chancer to whom the heiress left her vast fortune and who ruthlessly took her life. Leonard however is adamant that his partner, the enigmatic chorus girl Romaine, can prove his innocence. Tasked with representing Leonard is his solicitor John Mayhew and King's Counsel, Sir Charles Carter KC.

The Witness For The Prosecution is adapted by Sarah Phelps (And Then There Were None, The Casual Vacancy, The Crimson Field, Great Expectations), directed by Julian Jarrold (The Crown, The Girl, Appropriate Adult,) and co-produced by Mammoth and Agatha Christie Productions (And Then There Were None, Partners In Crime). The executive producers are James Prichard and Hilary Strong for Agatha Christie Productions; Sarah Phelps, Karen Thrussell and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen; and Matthew Read for the BBC.
