Art Directors Guild Gallery 800 Announces ree Artists You Should Know : Robert Houghtaling - John Moffitt - Stan Olexiewicz

The Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) Gallery 800 debuts the 2014 season with Three Artists You Should Know, opening on September 12 with a hosted reception from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Located in the heart of the famed NoHo Arts District, Gallery 800 showcases Guild members' personal art in a series of shows throughout the year. The September 12 reception will feature personal works from Scenic Artists Robert Houghtaling, John Moffitt and Stan Olexiewicz. The exhibit will be on display September 12 - October 18, 2014. Regular Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday, 2-8pm, Sunday 2-6pm.

Born in the San Fernando Valley and the youngest of five siblings, Robert Houghtaling taught himself how to paint at an early age. Houghtaling specializes in fine arts but also likes to paint for the entertainment industry. His work is influenced by classic Hollywood, 60's pop art and 80's punk/new wave imagery.

John Moffitt, a Los Angeles native, has been a student of the arts from an early age. Moffitt started his career as a muralist working with Garth Benton creating murals for the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu. Doing large-scale paintings furthered his career into the motion picture industry as a Scenic Artist. Moffitt has created backdrops for many well-known films from The Goonies, Ghostbusters, Ironman 1 & 2 and many more. In 2006 Moffitt transitioned his career as a Scenic Artist in the motion picture industry and joined the Art Directors Guild as their Associate Executive Director.

Scenic Artist Stan Olexiewicz has been working in the Motion Picture and Television industry for over twenty-one years. The majority of his years spent in the industry were at Warner Bros., and thereafter he has been a freelance Scenic Artist for television shows and movies. As a Scenic Artist, Olexiewicz most recently worked on Django Unchained and Parks and Recreation.

These artists are leading Art Department professionals, who, through a combination of observation, passion and imagination, bring the writers words and the directors vision to life in television and film. When not working as integral creative members of the entertainment community, they contribute to the fine art scene with their personal artwork. Since Gallery 800 opened its doors in March 2009, more than 420 ADG members have shown their artwork in the ongoing exhibitions.

Representing Gallery 800 are Curator Denis Olsen and Manager Debbie Patton. Gallery 800's mission is to promote the works of talented entertainment industry professionals, in an intimate venue, on a personal level.
