Canal J, partner to the 12th European Comics Fair in Nimes on 27-28 April 2013

For the 12th consecutive year (ever since the first such event), Canal J has partnered with the European Comics Fair in Nimes. The partnership is entirely natural for the channel, which has devoted a major share of its airtime to popular childrens comic book heroes for more than 20 years, including Titeuf, L onard, The Marsupilami, Franky Snow, Kid Paddle, Power Rangers, Naruto and Samson and N on.

Canal J is proud to participate once again this year via its broadcasts, website and event presence, working with the fairs organizers and its president Didier Crisse, plus writers, artists and more - and, of course, with children who love comics and cartoons.

A special programme: quality time with Nini Patalo, Titeuf and Naruto

The greatest heroes come to life on Canal J and are constantly joined by new arrivals, each as zany, cheeky and irresistible as the rest.

This years event features:

Naruto, on Friday 26 April from 8:30 to 10:15 pm, at a manga party where five episodes from the series will be screened.

Titeuf, followed by Nini Patalo and his funny family (new!), on Sunday 28 April starting at 2:10 pm. Tune in for a pair of episodes each as they take over the station for nearly two solid hours of crazy adventures!

Canal J workshops

For the fifth year, childrens comic artists and colourists at the fair will host the Canal J workshops on Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 am, 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm. Children can sign up anytime during the weekend at the channels booth to join in on six workshops that will give the artists a chance to share their passion for comics with the children. The workshops will welcome back long-time participants like Dutto (Les ptits diables, Soleil) and Thierry Copp e (Les blagues de Toto, Delcourt), alongside several new faces: Marko (Les Godillots, Bamboo), Tom and Jez (Damien, BAC@BD) and Garr ra (Droit au But, Hugo comic strip), which are also nominees for the 2013 Canal J Prize for Best Childrens Volume. Etienne Willem, who won the prize in 2012, will also facilitate one of the Canal J workshops.

In 2012, the big winner was Etienne Willem (Editions Paquet) for L p e dArdenois - La Proph tie, Volume 2 of the valiant young Garens adventures.

He inherits the title from Laudec and Cauvin for C dric, in 2004 and 2005; Midam, for Kid Paddle, in 2006; Thierry Copp e in 2008, for Les Blagues de Toto; Zep for Titeuf, in 2007 and 2009; Sylvia Douy for Marie-Lune, in 2010; and Fournier, Cardona and Torta for Volume 3 of NOOB, Un jour je sera niveau 100, in 2011.

Who will win the Canal J prize this year?

As always with Canal J, the children will decide!

The channel is once again letting its viewers choose their favourite childrens comic book, from among a selection of eight released between June 2012 and March 2013, by voting via the Canal J website from 8 to 23 April.

On Saturday 27 April at 6:00 pm, the Canal J Prize will be awarded onstage at the fair to the author who garnered the most childrens votes.

Along with voting, children can also enter a contest at canalj.fr to win the entire 2013 selection from the Canal J comic book nominees.
