Vizrt has unveiled the findings of its research into employee engagement.

The graphics and live production solutions provider released the results of research commissioned into how leading companies are leveraging video solutions to drive engagement and efficiency in the workplace.

Key findings demonstrated the importance of video communications in workforce motivation, with seventy per cent of employees reporting the quality of company communications affected how they were engaged. Forty per cent of hybrid workers were considering leaving their positions because of poor video communications.

At 49 per cent, nearly half of respondents agreed that good quality video communications had a positive impact on their motivation with 67 per cent saying that technologies such as Town Halls and live streams were more effective than other methods for helping them understand the business and remain aligned with their company's vision.

The survey included figures from Gallup which state that low engagement among employees may have reduced global GDP by 9 per cent last year, with engagement directly tied to turnover, absenteeism and productivity.

Commenting on the report, Chris Black, global head of brand and communications at Vizrt, said, Hybrid working isn't going anywhere. Coupled with the growing need for global companies to be more efficient, reduce costs, and be more sustainable, video offers a viable solution. In this remote era, companies must engage and motivate employees no matter where they are based and quality in-house video production is proven to work.

Evolving expectations 88 per cent of employees said the quality of video communications is important in day-to-day operations, highlighting the evolving nature of expectations and attitudes among a workforce that has embraced hybrid/remote methodologies. 83 per cent of organisations now use video in some form for communication activities.

When asked about the technologies they would like to see their company invest in to improve video communications, the top three answers were real-time data visualisation, live-streaming capabilities and audience participation tools. Additionally, 39 per cent expressed a desire for interactive graphics, 34 per cent wanted virtual reality and 32 per cent would like to see 3D animation in communications.
