Apple s ambitions for pay-TV --

Consumer electronics company Apple, is rumoured to be in licensing discussions with programmers toward the development of an OTT subscription TV service. Due to be officially announced in 2015, the service would offer a small and affordable package of channels and would potentially include an on-demand component and the ability to stream both live and on-demand content to a range of devices.
This kind of video service, nicknamed skinny pay TV, is an alternate package which streams a limited amount of live TV channels over the internet. It does not require restrictive hardware such as a satellite dish or set-top box and instead only relies on a broadband connected viewing device. This gives viewers a more affordable service which allows them to hand-pick and pay for the content they would like to watch, instead of paying a blanket fee for a mass of channels which may not all be of interest to them.
Apple s service will allegedly cost $30 or $40 a month and will be exclusively available on Apple devices.
