New PreSonus gear starts shipping

The Studiolive ARc range and the Quantum 2626 have begun shipping

PreSonuss Quantum 2626 interface.

Two of PreSonuss NAMM launches have just begun shipping in the USA: the Quantum 2626 audio interface and the updated StudioLive compact mixer/USB interface range.

The 1U rackmount Quantum 2626 (above) is a 26-in, 26-out audio interface. It's the company's first based on Thunderbolt 3, and the specs look good - PreSonus claim round-trip latency of under 1ms. The unit features eight front panel accessible mic preamps with 48V phantom power, plus ADAT and S/PDIF digital I/O. Word clock and DC-coupled outputs (for sending control voltages) are built in, as are twin headphone outputs with level controls. The Quantum 2626 is available now and costs 599 Euros$599.95.

PreSonuss ARc16 Mixer, from the updated StudioLive range launched at NAMM 2020, is now shipping in the USA.

The StudioLive ARc range comprises the $499.95 AR8c (399 Euros), the $599.95 AR12c (499 Euros) and the $699.95 AR16c (shown above and retailing for 599 Euros), each with different complements of mic preamps and input channels, but all based around an analogue mixer architecture with three band EQ, onboard digital processing, a stereo SD recorder and connections for decks and electronic instruments. Bluetooth audio interfacing is also built in, as is a USB 2.0 audio interface so you can receive audio input from or send mixed audio back to a connected computer.

PreSonus have also upgraded the Studio Magic Suite of software supplied free with their audio interfaces and mixers, including the new ARc range. The bundle, which is now apparently worth over $1000, includes stand-alone applications such as Ableton Live Lite, custom piano lessons from training company Melodics, and of course the company's own Studio One DAW (shown below running some of the bundle), as well as plug-in effects and virtual instruments in VST, AU (Mac), and AAX formats. New amongst the latter are NI's Replika delay, Cherry Audio's Voltage Modular Nucleus software-based modular synth, the latest v3 of Brainworx's bx_rockrack guitar-amp emulation plug-in, and UVI's Model D virtual grand piano.
