With 40 video entries from across the world now live for viewing, the Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change, now in its fourth year, enters its exciting final public voting phase. The entrant with the most film views in each category by the deadline of 28 October, will win an opportunity to be hosted by the UN as a youth reporter at the upcoming international climate meeting taking place in December in Katowice Poland.
The 2018 Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change has attracted 300 entries and showcases an incredible array of individual climate actions and initiatives. The competition has invited entries in two thematic categories: Responsible production and consumption and Green and climate friendly jobs.
It may seem that action on climate change is something that is done by politicians or governments , says Nick Turner of tve. But these stories remind us that young people around the world are taking action now to make a difference to their world. From projects collecting and reusing plastic in Uganda and empowering illiterate women to become solar engineers in India to sustainable travel reviews in Belgium, we can all be inspired by these videos to act now.
The judging panel which includes representatives from UN Climate Change, UNDP and tve, has whittled down the entries to a shortlist of 40 videos for the final voting stage. With each video view counting as a vote it's now up to the viewing public to decide which is the best entry in each category, and who will be invited to COP24 in Poland.

The Global Youth Video Competition on Climate change is run by tve in partnership with UN Climate Change and the UNDP-GEF Small Grants Programme. The 2018 competition is supported by Fondation BNP Paris and is part of tvebiomovies, tve's successful series of online film competitions. Alongside the Global Youth Video Competition, tvebiomovies 2018 is operating three further environmental youth video competitions: Reducing the human cost of disasters in conjunction with UNISDR; Protecting our Pollinators with the Convention on Biological Diversity and the African Tech for Good category. All of the tvebiomovies 2018 activities are also generously supported by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU).
