The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences nominated 19 Berklee alumni for Emmy Awards on Tuesday, July 12. This years nominees were recognized for their sound mixing, sound editing, music composition, music direction, and other contributions to the industry's biggest programs and events.
Pablo Mungu a '98, a program director at Berklee Valencia and seven-time Emmy winner, was nominated in the category of Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special for his work as a Pro Tools playback mixer for the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. Also nominated in the same category were Juan Pablo Velasco B.M. '99, Pro Tools playback mixer for the 64th annual Grammy Awards; Shane OConnor B.M. '07, rerecording mixer for the CBS special Adele: One Night Only; Pierre de Laforcade '82, production mixer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS; and Ezra Matychak B.M. '01 and Eric Pfeifer B.M. '06, production mixer and package mixer, respectively, for Saturday Night Live.
David Schwartz '74 was nominated for Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary Series or Special (Original Dramatic Score) for the Amazon series Lucy and Desi.
Earl Martin B.M. '89 received two Emmy nominations for his work as a rerecording mixer: Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Nonfiction or Reality Program (Single or Multi-Camera) for HBO's George Carlins American Dream, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation for HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. Elmo Ponsdomenech '83 also received a nomination in the same category for his role as rerecording mixer on HBO's Barry.
Alumni received Emmy nominations for work across a variety of critically acclaimed programs on various channels and platforms, including Netflix's Stranger Things, Paramount 's Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Disney 's The Book of Boba Fett, AMC's Better Call Saul, Hulu's McCartney 3, 2, 1, and others.
Lindsay Pepper, a student at Berklee Online, also received a nomination for her work as a Foley artist on Netflixs Love, Death Robots.
The 74th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will be held on Monday, September 12, at 8:00 p.m. on NBC and Peacock.
