Teen series shot in Rio de Janeiro

First telenovela created by Gloob, a pay-TV channel solely dedicated to domestic productions geared at kids and teens, Gabby Estrella has already started shooting in the state of Rio de Janeiro. With support from Filme Rio-Rio Film Commission, principal photography began June 15, first in locations at the Penha district, in the capital city s North Zone, then by the beach.

These first scenes in the city of Rio will introduce Gaby s story. The character, played by newcomer Mait Padilha, is a 12 year old youth that has to move to her grandfather s farm in the country. As of July 12 we will be working in Barra do Pira , taking full advantage of the local film hub that has developed there recently. We will be shooting on a very traditional, old-fashioned farm , says Panor mica, s Patricia Bau, whose outfit will co-produce the show with American company Chatrone. While in this new country setting, the girl becomes acquainted with details of her family s history and discovers a talent for music she didn t know she had. That s how Gaby becomes a Estrella - a star.

Audiences will be able to follow this music enthusiast s adventures starting October 14, when the series premieres on the Gloob channel. Fifty two episodes are being shot for the first season, always with support from FR-RFC. Their support with permits and so on have helped us immensely. It s all great, FR-RFC has made our lives simpler , says Patricia Bau. This first batch of episodes, shooting through November, is directed by Cl udio Boeckel.
