DJ Cooper, who is Itumeleng Mosoeu aka Vusi Ma R5's brother, says most of his relatives learned about the Bacardi king's death on social media.

DJ COOPER IS SHATTERED ABOUT HIS BROTHER VUSI MA R5'S DEATH The popular Bacardi musician Vusi Ma R5's brother Koketso Mosoeu known as DJ Cooper narrates moments before he got killed in the early hours of Monday, 30 January outside Zola's Place in Soshanguve Ext 3.

His brother told Sowetan on Monday that he and Vusi Ma R5 just returned from performing in Limpopo on Sunday morning and spent the rest of the day between different venues in Mabopane and Soshanguve until someone suggested they go to Zola's Place around midnight.

He adds that he left the Bacardi king inside the pub and went home to rest in his car, which was parked a few meters from where he was performing.

I was then woken up by a group of people who told me that they had just seen on Twitter that someone who could be my brother had just been shot and I must go with them to identify the body.

I am shuttered I cannot explain the depth of pain I feel in my heart and I don't even know how I'm going to heal from what I saw.

The musician's aunt, Easter Mnisi also tells the publication that the family is in shock and traumatised.

We are hurting. No words can explain how shuttered we are but we beg South Africans to please respect people who have passed away. I hope we are the last family that had to suffer from hearing such tragic news through social media, said Mnisi

HOW THE BACARDI KING GOT HIS STAGE NAME Vusi Ma R5's aunt Easter Mnisi also tells Sowetan that said she introduced the Bacardi king to social clubs in 2015 where he would make announcements on stage and also compose random songs to entertain the crowd.

The name Vusi MaR5 started after he had placed R5 coins on his brown leather belt to give to kids. He would sometimes burn bank notes on stage while performing and when we reprimanded him he said he wanted to be famous, said Mnisi.

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello tells Sowetan that no suspects have been arrested and the investigation for a case of murder was ongoing.

According to reports, the victim was sitting with his friends outside a tavern at ext13 in Soshanguve when he went across the road to the car. The others allegedly heard gunshots and when they went to investigate found the victim lying on the ground.

The police request anyone who may have information about this incident to contact their police station or report on the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111.
