Fujifilm's Synapse VNA demonstrates standards based interoperability at European IHE Connectathon

Fujifilm successfully demonstrated standards based interoperability through its Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) at the European IHE Connectathon on April 11-15, 2016 in Bochum, Germany. Fujifilm's Synapse VNA 6.0, the company's latest medical informatics and image management solution, is realizing significant growth in the global VNA market and particularly in Europe. The annual Connectathon event provided an ideal forum for Synapse VNA to validate integration capabilities with other vendors and systems in the European region.

The Connectathon attracts IT leaders, health authorities, policymakers and other important stakeholders in the European community who are interested in tools and services that support interoperability, said Nathan Gurgel, director, Healthcare IT Marketing, TeraMedica Division of FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. As proprietors of the first true VNA, Fujifilm was poised for the challenge of testing the capabilities and robustness of our solution in a rigorous and structured setting.

A leader in interoperability and VNA technologies, Fujifilm continued to demonstrate its technological expertise by demonstrating over 20 IHE profiles and connecting to dozens of other healthcare IT systems at the Connectathon. Over 55 successful tests were completed during the weeklong event. The Connectathon testing included XDS and XDS-I capabilities and the IHE Imaging Object Change Management (IOCM) profile. IOCM provides standards based capabilities for automatic data synchronization between the Synapse VNA and connected systems, such as a PACS. This simplifies deploying and maintaining Synapse VNA and provides significant cost reductions to the provider.

Fujifilm's Synapse VNA manages all enterprise clinical imaging content, both DICOM and non-DICOM, using the most scalable single storage solution available. Equipped with advanced life cycle management tools, it offers organizations the ability to secure and enable control of all image data across the enterprise. A true enterprise imaging solution, Synapse VNA allows users to connect imaging content from more specialty clinical areas than any other system. It also features an enterprise viewer that provides a single patient-centric view across the entire continuum of care.

Through continual development of standards and integration testing, Fujifilm demonstrates its ongoing commitment to open healthcare IT interoperability. Fujifilm will showcase Synapse VNA at the upcoming Society of Imaging Informatics in medicine (SIIM) 2016 Annual Meeting from June 29-July 1 in Portland, Oregon.
