MAXIS BERKONGSI KEGEMBIRAAN KRISMAS DENGAN 80 TETAMU KHAS DARI RUMAH-RUMAH KEBAJIKAN

Semangat musim perayaan akhir tahun telah dikongsi dengan lebih dari 80 tetamu khas dari tiga rumah kebajikan di Sarawak, apabila Maxis Berhad (Maxis) membawa kegembiraan Krismas kepada para penghuni dari Cheshire Home, Persatuan Ibubapa Kanak-kanak Cacat Sarawak dan Sarawak Childrens Cancer Society di Four Points Sheraton Hotel di Kuching pada hari ini. Ini adalah kali kedua di mana Maxis menganjurkan inisiatif seperti ini sejak ia diperkenalkan pada tahun 2011. Di acara tersebut, Maxis juga mempersembahkan sumbangan berjumlah RM30,000 kepada rumah-rumah kebajikan berkenaan yang terdiri daripada kanak-kanak, orang dewasa dan penjaga rumah kebajikan yang juga telah mengambil bahagian di dalam aktiviti dan permainan sambil menikmati jamuan enak Krismas.
Acara itu telah dihadiri oleh Ketua Pegawai Operasi Bersama Maxis, Mark Dioguardi dan Suren J. Amarasekera; Ketua Wilayah Sarawak Maxis, Alexius Bong; dan ahli-ahli pengurusan kanan dan sukarelawan Maxis, di mana mereka semua meluangkan masa bersama para tetamu.
Kami amat bebesar hati kerana dapat meluangkan masa dengan komuniti-komuniti di Sabah untuk tahun yang kedua. Di Maxis, kami komited untuk sentiasa memberi balik kepada komuniti yang berada dekat di hati kami dan adalah sebahagian penting daripada DNA syarikat kami. Kami amat gembira kerana pada hari ini kami dapat meluangkan masa bersama para tetamu khas dari tiga rumah ini. Kami berharap agar kami dapat membawa keceriaan ke dalam hidup mereka dengan acara pada hari ini serta dapat membantu mereka menjalankan rumah kebajikan masing-masing dengan sumbangan kami ini, kata Alexius.
Di acara tersebut, Mark dan Suren mempersembahkan cek bernilai RM10,000 kepada setiap rumah. dan bersama-sama dengan ahli pengurusan kanan Maxis yang lain, mengedarkan beg cenderahati Krismas kepada para tetamu yang hadir. Setiap rumah juga membuat persembahan di acara tersebut.
Selain daripada acara komuniti seperti yang diadakan pada hari ini, Maxis juga telah menubuhkan program-program yang menyumbang kepada komuniti dan juga menyokong aspirasi negara di dalam bidang teknologi, pendidikan dan pembangunan belia. Salah satu daripada program tersebut adalah program perdana Maxis Cyberkids, yang bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan teknologi dan inovasi serba canggih untuk menyebarkan pengetahuan ICT di kalangan pelajar-pelajar di dalam menyokong seruan kerajaan untuk merapatkan jurang digital di negara ini. Sejak penubuhannya pada tahun 2002, kem Maxis Cyberkids telah menjangkau lebih dari 8,500 pelajar dan guru dari 1,500 sekolah di Malaysia. Di Cabaran Kebangsaan Maxis Cyberkids 2012, yang juga sebahagian daripada rangka kerja Program ini, dua sekolah dari Sabah dan Sarawak, iaitu SMK St Michael, Sandakan, Sabah dan SMK Belaga, Sarawak, muncul sebagai juara kebangsaan. Maxis juga telah menyempurnakan kem-kem bagi para pelajar dari dua sekolah tersebut pada tahun 2012.
Tahun ini, program Maxis Cyberkids menyambut ulangtahunnya yang ke-10, dan bersempena dengan pencapaian ini, Maxis sedang bekerjasama dengan Kementeriaan Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM) untuk membawa program Maxis Cyberkids ke sekolah-sekolah keperluan khas. Dengan kelulusan daripada KPM, Maxis telah menyempurnakan program perintisnya untuk Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas Selangor (SKPKS), sebuah sekolah pendidikan khas untuk yang cacat pendengaran.
Malah, Maxis juga adalah yang pertama untuk menganugerahkan biasiswa kepada anak-anak pelanggan pascabayar sebagai sebahagian daripada program Biasiswa Kecemerlangan. Sejak penubuhan program tersebut pada tahun 2005, Maxis telah melabur sebanyak RM37.9 juta untuk inisiatif ini dan telah memberi biasiswa kepada 177 pelajar pra-siswazah dan 32 pelajar pasca-siswazah Malaysia.
