Lightware is highlighting two practical, value-focused solutions for organisations equipping smaller meeting and collaboration rooms: the Taurus SCX-2x1-HC60 standalone matrix switcher and the USBC-BOOSTER USB-C extension series. Together, they support simplified USB-C connectivity architectures that bring video, audio, USB data, network connection, and power delivery into cleaner, more consistent room experiences without adding unnecessary complexity. Through its Taurus product family and broader USB connectivity portfolio, Lightware has helped pioneer the adoption of USB-C as a central component of modern meeting room connectivity.
Taurus SCX-2x1-HC60
Taurus SCX-2x1-HC60 is a high-performance standalone matrix switcher designed for meeting and collaboration spaces that need reliable AV and USB switching without LARA (Lightware Advanced Room Automation) control. Built on the same hardware platform as Lightware's Taurus HC60 family, SCX-2x1-HC60 provides USB-C single-cable connectivity for video, USB, audio, network connection and up to 100W charging, alongside flexible, automated host switching via USB-C or HDMI + USB.
By keeping room control separate, SCX-2x1-HC60 helps organisations standardise on a robust connectivity core while tailoring control to each space. If room automation is required, customers have the freedom to integrate SCX-2x1-HC60 with their own preferred room automation software and control environment. The SCX-2x1-HC60 supports video resolutions up to UHD/4K@60Hz 4:4:4 and 5K (5120 2160) over HDMI 2.0, delivering smooth performance for modern displays, including ultrawide formats used in executive spaces and specialist applications.
With USB 3 connectivity up to 5 Gbps, the switcher helps teams share content and connect room peripherals with minimal friction. For monitoring and diagnostics, SCX-2x1-HC60 supports SNMPv3 and remote system logging via Syslog protocols.
USBC-BOOSTER
For smaller rooms where USB-C cable length is the limiting factor, pushing standard passive USB-C connections beyond 5 metres can lead to signal degradation, dropouts, and loss of device charging. The USBC-BOOSTER series solves this by acting as an inline signal regenerator and power source positioned between table interfaces and room peripherals, restoring signal integrity for uncompressed video, high-speed data, and high-wattage charging without requiring active optical cables.
Even though the BOOSTER doesn't need an AOC cable for the 10 plus meter extension, it is compatible with them and adds charging up to 100 Watts charging to those system as well. It supports DisplayPort 1.2a Alternate Mode for uncompressed video up to 4096 2160@60Hz 4:4:4, delivers up to 100W USB Power Delivery to laptops on the host input side and 15W to peripherals on the output side, and includes a hardware 2-lane / 4-lane DP switch to choose between 4-lane video prioritisation or 2-lane mode for simultaneous USB 3.2 5 Gbps data.
USBC-BOOSTER extends reach up to 12 metres while using passive cables and 14 meters if combined with Active Optical USB-C Cables. It is designed for silent integration with fanless cooling and an internal mains power supply via a standard IEC C14 inlet, avoiding bulky external power bricks under tables and behind screens. C-LOCK cable-retention brackets help secure connections against accidental disconnections, while keeping long cable runs passive and easy to service, and the series is compatible with DisplayLink MST for software-driven multi-display setups.
We build our USB C solutions by listening closely to what users and integrators struggle with in real meeting rooms. That is exactly why we created Taurus SCX-2x1-HC60 and the USBC-BOOSTER series: to solve the everyday switching and distance challenges that come up in smaller meeting rooms, says Gergely Vida, CEO at Lightware.
By prioritising practical design and real-world install requirements, Lightware enables organisations to standardise USB-C connectivity across their meeting estate, including smaller rooms where simplicity and value matter most.
