Cogswell College in Silicon Valley Hosts 6 Annual Animation Show of Shows Event

Cogswell College, a leading educational institution offering a unique, project-based curriculum fusing Digital Art, Engineering and Entrepreneurship, hosted the 16th Annual Animation Show of Shows event at its campus on Sept. 25th.

Over 90 students filled Cogswell College's Dragon's Den Theatre to attend the Annual Animation Show of Shows. This exciting show featured a diverse array of both studio and independent animated films culled from the U.S., Canada, Norway, France, Great Britain, Poland and Russia. Included in the two-hour program were showings of Disneys short animated film Feast and Pixars short animated film Lava. Cogswell students were also able to purchase DVDs of the animated content following the screening.

Ron Diamond, the Curator of the Animation Show of Shows, said, We drew a strong crowd of students who were eager to see some amazing animations from all over the world! What could be better than that? Diamond appears at left in accompanying photo along with Jerome Solomon, the Dean of Cogswell College (right) during the Show of Shows event.

Some of the other well-known consumer projects to which Cogswell alumni have contributed include the feature films Madagascar, and The Avengers, and the popular videogames Modern Warfare 3, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and, Gears of War 3.

Additionally, animated short films conceived and produced by Cogswell students have gone on to win prestigious awards, including those presented by the California International Animation Festival, the Colorado Film Festival, the Oregon Film Festival, the Miami Film Festival, the Philadelphia Film & Animation Festival, the San Jose Short Film Festival, and Canada's International Film Festival.
