Ericsson and Orange han logrado superar los 10 gigabytes por segundo durante una prueba de 5G realizada en las instalaciones del operador en la localidad francesa de Ch tillon. Se trata de la mayor velocidad alcanzada en Francia con una red inal mbrica y un hito tras el acuerdo firmado por ambas compa as en 2016 para colaborar en la tecnolog a de la pr xima generaci n.
Los equipos empleados para la prueba son prototipos de estaci n base y de tel fonos m viles 5G con un peso de varias decenas de kilos. Se espera que en los pr ximos meses aparecer n aparatos de menor escala.
El notable incremento de la velocidad, incluso en movimiento, es una de las premisas del 5G. Estas cifras cada vez m s altas ser n necesarias para nuevos casos de uso como realidad virtual, realidad aumentada o las necesidades de los nuevos entornos de negocios. Gracias a nuestro acuerdo en 5G con Ericsson, estamos preparando el futuro de las redes , seg n Alain Maloberti, vicepresidente de Orange Labs Networks.
Franck Bou tard, director de Ericsson Francia, afirma que con el fin de apoyar a Orange en la preparaci n de su red futura, estamos siendo pioneros en las posibilidades que ofrece 5G. Algunas de las nuevas caracter sticas est n ya disponibles, como plugins de software para mejorar la experiencia del cliente en cuanto a banda ancha m vil, internet fijo inal mbrico y el Internet de las cosas. Ahora estamos superando las fronteras de la innovaci n y el potencial .
Los primeros despliegues de 5G tendr n lugar en 2020, aunque se esperan m s pruebas y ensayos desde 2017. Seg n el Mobility Report de Ericsson, habr 500 millones de suscripciones de esta tecnolog a a escala global hacia el a o 2022.
Orange cuenta con la cobertura m s amplia de 4G, cuyo despliegue llega ya al 88% de la poblaci n. El operador ha introducido tambi n la tecnolog a 4G+ en su red para lograr velocidades m ximas potenciales de hasta 300 Mbps en algunas ciudades.
En octubre de 2016, Orange y Ericsson firmaron un acuerdo de colaboraci n para desarrollar distintos casos de uso 5G y entornos de servicio, incluyendo el alineamiento t cnico y demostraciones externas, seg n ha informado la compa a sueca en un comunicado. El acuerdo permitir a incorporar los elementos esenciales de la tecnolog a 5G, pruebas de concepto y programas piloto por toda Europa a partir de este a o.
Esta colaboraci n abarca tambi n la evoluci n de soluciones 4G a 5G, incluyendo eficiencias de energ a y coste, y el uso de tecnolog as de Redes Definidas por Software (SDN) y Virtualizacion de Funciones de Red (NFV).
Hace unos d as, Ericsson, Orange y PSA Group suscribieron un acuerdo de colaboraci n para desarrollar un proyecto piloto de tecnolog a 5G para aplicaciones de automoci n, denominado Towards 5G. En el marco del proyecto, Ericsson aportar equipos de radio y un entorno virtual de red b sica descentralizada que ofrecer network slicing y servicios inteligentes de mensajer a geolocalizados. Por su parte, Orange proporcionar la red m vil y el espectro asociado para el sitio de pruebas, as como la conectividad
integrada para aplicaciones en veh culos.
