Nick Cave & Warren Ellis to Compose Original Score for Jo Nesbo's Detective Hole

Netflix is thrilled to announce that acclaimed musicians and composers Nick Cave and Warren Ellis will create the original score for the highly anticipated new series Jo Nesbo's Detective Hole (Norwegian title: Jo Nesb s Harry Hole), produced by Working Title, based on Jo Nesb 's global bestselling crime novels.
The pairing of Cave and Ellis with the dark, atmospheric world of Harry Hole is a match made in noir heaven. Renowned for their haunting, emotive soundtracks - spanning films such as The Proposition, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and Wind River - Cave and Ellis bring a depth and intensity that perfectly echoes the psychological complexity and Nordic noir sensibility of Nesb 's universe.
Composer Nick Cave: We loved working on this adaptation - Harry Holes murky, morally-complex world has been brought to life in all its darkly brutal glory, and it was an honour to work with the legendary Jo Nesbo.
Author, creator and executive producer Jo Nesb : Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are masters at conjuring mood and tension, and their music is the ideal companion to Harry Hole's brooding, enigmatic journey through the shadows of Oslo. Their music has always been a soundtrack to my writing process. To have them now scoring the world of Harry Hole feels both surreal and absolutely right.
About Nick Cave
Nick Cave is an acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter, author, and composer, best known as the frontman of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Renowned for his powerful lyrics and deep, emotive voice, Cave has captivated audiences worldwide for over four decades. Among his most iconic songs are Into My Arms, The Mercy Seat, and Red Right Hand - the latter of which has become a cultural touchstone, featured in numerous films and television series, including Peaky Blinders. Since forming in 1983, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have released over 18 studio albums, selling more than 5 million records globally. Cave's influence extends well beyond the music world; he is also celebrated for his work in film, having collaborated with longtime bandmate Warren Ellis on acclaimed soundtracks. His evocative compositions have left a lasting mark on both independent and mainstream cinema. With a career defined by artistic innovation and emotional honesty, Nick Cave remains one of the most respected and influential figures in contemporary music and culture.
About Jo Nesbo's Detective Hole:
Created by one of the greatest storytellers in crime fiction, Jo Nesb s Harry Hole is a whodunnit serial killer mystery led by famed anti-hero Harry Hole. Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers - and supposed colleagues - operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler. Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.
