ATC Global 2013: Great success for Rohde & Schwarz Munich, Apr 04, 2013 - After having been recognized as providing several new and innovative solutions at the World ATM Congress in Madrid, Rohde&Schwarz has also played a prominent role at the ATC GLOBAL 2013 exhibition in Amsterdam. Rohde&Schwarz was the most requested company in the hosted buyers program, which underlines the strong demand for the company's sophisticated Air Traffic Control solutions.

Rohde&Schwarz received lots of positive customer feedback for its fully IP-based voice communication system, the R&S VCS-4G working in tandem with its high-quality civil and military radio the R&S Series4200 and R&S Series4400 and with its remote control and monitoring system, the R&S RCMS II. Visitors got a first-hand look at those products and their interaction as a one-stop ATC solution from the microphone to the antenna. The ATM community was impressed by the solutions because they support operators in their main tasks of today's and tomorrow's challenges in the ATC business.

The leading market position of Rohde&Schwarz radios was strengthened by the company's demonstration of a new capability of the R&S VCS-4G radio: Simultaneous Transmission Detection (STD). STD is a long-standing but pressing industry problem that has now been solved by the innovative use of advanced DSP technology in R&S Series4200 radios. The possibility of detecting a double transmission by the radio and signaling this information to the ATC Controller via the R&S VCS-4G scored a direct hit on one of the most pressing customer needs.

Another highlight at the Rohde&Schwarz booth was the field proven and fully ED-137 compliant R&S VCS-4G. The innovative system architecture of the R&S VCS-4G migrates intelligence away from the network core to peripheral equipment, thereby increasing availability and reliability. Sophisticated design makes the product ready for the support of next generation ATM requirements such as efficiency, resource sharing, virtual center concepts or remote tower operations.

The new R&S VCS-Gateway, which allows the interworking of a TDM-based VCS with VoIP radios, added more depth to the Rohde&Schwarz portfolio at ATC Global. It makes a smooth migration from TDM systems to VoIP-based solutions possible, thereby safeguarding the customers capital investment.

The R&S RCMS II remote control and monitoring system completed the company's ATC Global showcase. It demonstrated its ability to provide umbrella monitoring for all radios and all components of the voice communication system. New features such as the ability to monitor the entire system via a mobile device was greeted as an innovative approach by the ATC world and attracted high interest among the air traffic community.

Once again Rohde&Schwarz proved that it is one of the premiere players not only in the radio market but also in the voice communication market.
