Berklee Performers Explore Origins,' Connection' in July Two Track Berklee's popular YouTube series features students performing original songs and sharing ideas around a central theme.

Berklee's Two Track music video series features some of the most talented artists from the Berklee community performing in a stripped-down recording session filmed in continuous camera shots with just a single microphone. Launched in September 2021, the performances, which have collected over 400,000 views to date, premieres on Wednesday evenings twice a month at 8:00 p.m. ET on the college's YouTube channel.

Each installment of Two Track revolves around a monthly theme that the artist engages with, either through their song selection and/or through a short storytelling segment recorded as part of the session. This month's featured artists explored the concepts of origins and connection, presenting an emotional and immersive experience.

Nina del R o On July 13, Buenos Aires and Brooklyn native and singer-songwriter Nina del R o sang her original song Amorcito Veranito and a heartfelt rendition of Paloma by Aca Seca Trio. Through her captivating performance, Nina conveyed a journey of self-discovery, reconnecting with her roots. In her quest to rekindle her connection with her heritage, del R o said she found solace in crafting things with her hands, and she perceives a profound connection with her ancestors through the art of knitting. This creative outlet, coupled with her soulful singing, serves as a poignant reminder to embrace stillness in a fast-paced world.

Sydney Tyler Soul and blues singer Sydney Tyler, who hails from Smyrna, Georgia, was musically inspired by Etta James, Roberta Flack, and Norah Jones. On July 26, Tyler performed her original song 1-1, along with a collaborative arrangement of Fool That I Am and My Funny Valentine featuring fellow student Isaiah Burke. Tyler's commitment to staying connected to her musical roots and the essence of her artistry shines through in her heartfelt rendition of Fool That I Am. Tyler said this emotional song serves as a kind of portal to a different world, and it reminds her why she pursues music and deepens her craft every day.
