Leading audio manufacturer recognises outstanding talent at Bucks New University

Mark Rowles graduated during a ceremony at the Wycombe Swan Theatre on Tuesday 9 September and was presented with the Sennheiser Best Sound Design Production award.

Mark won the award for an audio visual showreel created in his final year at the University. The showreel contained five films and Mark won for a film called Immerse which he worked on with BA (Hons) Film and Television Production students at the University.

He said: "I am extremely proud to win this award, particularly as it was awarded to me by world-renowned audio brand, Sennheiser.

"I worked with students from other courses at the University including Film and Television Production, Animation and Visual Effects, and Advertising: Creative so it was a real team effort.

"I am currently working as a freelance location sound recordist but hope ultimately to work in audio post-production for television and film, as this is where I believe I can showcase fully the sound design abilities I have developed at Bucks New University. My award can only help me achieve that goal!

"Studying at Bucks New University allowed me to explore both my creative and academic abilities. I also worked across various departments in the University which gave me a huge insight into the industry and more specifically the role of an audio professional within it."

Warren Bassett, Course Leader, Audio and Music Production, said: "Having an industry-leading partner like Sennheiser who not only looks for talent but is keen to reward it among our graduating students is a great note for Mark Rowles to end his studies at Bucks New University.

"The showreel he produced could stand up to many commercial productions. There was also a lot of competition from other fantastic productions made by fellow students, but Sennheiser picked this production as the best."

Gemma Robinson, of Sennheiser, who completed a Music Management and Artist Development degree at Bucks New University, presented Mark with a £300 voucher to redeem against a Sennheiser product of his choice.

Mark received his degree certificate and his Sennheiser prize in the presence of family and friends alongside Bucks New University students and honorary graduates at the Universitys graduation ceremonies held at Wycombe Swan Theatre between 8 - 12 September 2014.
