BBC recommissions Poldark for second series Company News April 17, 2015
The BBC has announced the 18th century romantic saga is set to return for another eight-part season after a successful debut which saw episode 1 have a final consolidated rating of 9.4 million viewers.
Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, said: I can exclusively announce that Sunday's night new phenomenon Poldark that has captured the nations' hearts has been commissioned for a second series. Mammoth Screen are delighted with the announcement and the return of Aidan Turner as Cornish hero Ross Poldark. Eleanor Tomlinson will also return in the role of Demelza.
The series' ratings have helped BBC1 to a 10-year high with the period drama seeing the channel record its highest ratings share for the first three months of the year in a decade.
Poldark has been steadily gathering a legion of fans as well as critical acclaim since it first aired on BBC1 on 8th March. Here's what the papers say:
