Manager: Video Library Johannesburg

Developing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures to ensure continuous process improvements with regard to the receipt, delivery, and storage of video tapes, hard drives and digital files including administrative duties, while ensuring compliance with customer requirements, broadcast- and industry standards.

Overseeing the efficient and effective receipt, logging, and storage of analogue television material, including raw material in order to ensure easy retrieval, access and safeguarding of information

Ensuring accurate shelving of tapes in accordance to appropriate standards

Performing regular stock counts to ensure a nil variance between actual and counted stock items.

Effectively managing the storage area

Ensuring effective maintenance of updated and accurate databases.

Overseeing the receipt of digital television material (digital files and hard drives), including raw material, for broadcasting and archival purposes, while ensuring efficiency of operations and quality controls, and the effective co-ordination of relevant activities

Initiating and overseeing, in close alignment with the Television Archives and Ingest, the continuous ingest of analogue material to render the library in a tapeless environment.

Motivating and requesting capital expenditure and, on approval, ensure cost-effective utilisation of resources.

Managing Team Effectively:

o Directing, managing, and motivating the staff to ensure optimal productivity and output

o Ensuring a developed individual & team competence by initiating and promoting effective training plans and the execution there-off.

o Managing all other staff related matters

Ensuring the enforcement of relevant policies, e.g. the metadata policy throughout the value chain.

Generating daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, which will guide internal and external operations regarding the various stakeholder content workflows.

Developing and ensuring the regular updating of Standard Operating Procedures in line with the changing business environment to ensure optimal service delivery

Developing annual business plans highlighting the current and future requirements and opportunities within the Video Library environment.

Monitoring new developments, trends and technology in the Video Library environment

Education & Experience

Must have a degree in Information & Knowledge Management (or related Field)

Must have more than 5 years' experience in broadcast archiving and video library

Must have experience at a supervisory or management level

Must have an excellent understanding of the video library processes and workflows

Must have knowledge of operational process improvement concepts.

Must have SLA and contract management experience

Must have excellent presentation skills
