Object Matrix to Power BT Media Storage Service 22 March 2016
Cardiff and London, UK, 14th March 2016: Object Matrix, the leading developer of object storage and business continuity systems to the media industry announces a partnership that will see it provide storage and workflow solutions for the new BT Media Storage service, being launched at NAB 2016.
BT Media & Broadcast and Object Matrix have brought together their expertise in networking and storage to create a tightly integrated storage service proposition tailored to the media industry and targeted initially at nearline, library, +1 copies and disaster recovery workflows. As well as the intuitive interfaces that come out of the box, the service offering will also extend to 3rd party applications such as ingest, QC, transcode, and MAM to provide an ecosystem of tightly integrated and well supported services.
Combining highly trusted telecommunications from a globally recognized brand with the leading provider of proven object storage to the media and entertainment industries enables organisations to implement a private or hybrid cloud storage strategy, knowing the movement and access to data will be non-disruptive and integrated into the way they work today.
The service will initially provide comparable services to other cloud providers in terms of data protection and price per Gigabyte but will offer much more in terms of support and integration of workflows. Other benefits of the service include:

BT Media IP Nexus is a high speed data service for digital workflow solutions for the Media and Broadcast industry. Such communities are concentrated within London around BT Tower/Soho, in Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow but Nexus can reach most UK and International centres. BT Media IP Nexus has been designed to help the creative industry link together effortlessly across the stages of production. It helps post- production teams work together locally and from other locations. Video edits, visual effects, colour corrections, sound effects and more can be quickly and easily shared, and are not restricted by your local region.
BT has been an Object Matrix customer since 2010 with almost 2 petabytes of object storage deployed as a private cloud over 3 sites. Having proven the private cloud storage model with BT, and many other globally recognised organisations, it is a natural step for Object Matrix to offer that service to the wider community stated Nick Pearce, co-founder and Sales Director at Object Matrix.
