From the award-winning creators behind Someday or One Day, Netflix's dark mystery romance series Had I Not Seen The Sun is set to debut in two parts, with the first premiering on November 13 and the second on December 11. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Chiang Chi-Cheng and Golden Bell winner Chien Chi-Feng, the series features a powerhouse cast including Tseng Jing-hua, Moon Lee, Lyan Chen, Chiang Chi, Umin Boya, Yao Chun-yao, Shih Chih-tian, and more.

Blending high-school trauma, forbidden love, and chilling revenge, the series' teaser trailer offers a first look at a story of tragic romance and irreversible human darkness - where reality and dreams collide, sparking intrigue. The teaser key art reveals Tseng Jing-hua as Li Jen-Yao, wearing prison garb and casting a piercing, enigmatic gaze.

The teaser opens with Chiang Hsiao-tung (Moon Lee) dancing ballet on a rooftop like a fragile butterfly, watched by Jen-yao (Tseng Jing-hua), who tells her, Moths are nocturnal. They mistake the light for the moon, circling endlessly, never realizing they are trapped in place. His words mirror his own fate as a moth chasing the sun. Moths and butterflies are attracted to light - yet one only appears at night, while the other dances in the day. In this story, they symbolize two people from different worlds, destined never to fly under the same sky, explained director Chiang.

The scene then cuts to a chilling image: Jen-yao in a black raincoat, as news reports reveal him to be a cold-blooded murderer - responsible for killing his father and multiple high school classmates years earlier. Nicknamed the Rainstorm Killer for always striking on rainy days, he confessed after a series of deaths, but has remained silent about his motives. The stark contrast between the innocent boy of the past and the ruthless killer of the present anchors the story's suspense.

Behind bars, Jen-Yao refuses all visitors - except aspiring documentarian Chou Pin-yu (Chiang Chi). Through their meetings, Pin-Yu begins to dream of a mysterious schoolgirl (Moon Lee) and even of intimate, ambiguous encounters with the killer himself. These visions blur reality and illusion, pulling her deeper into a hidden past between Jen-Yao and Hsiao-tung. As the truth unfolds, a complex triangle emerges.

Had I Not Seen The Sun is a story built around the theme of irreversibility. Growing up, we were taught that wounds heal with time. Yet as we get older, we realize that many wounds are irreversible and cannot be healed. Through the series, we hope to encourage everyone to cherish the people and things around them, and to embrace every life that has been hurt, explained director-writer Chien.

Tseng, who plays the Rainstorm Killer, shared, The series transitions from a campus youth romance into dark suspense. It conveys the profound experiences of emotional separation, as well as healing and forgiveness. These characters will take the audience through emotional highs and lows, embodying both light and darkness.

To me, Had I Not Seen The Sun represents the warm and gentle sunlight after days of winter rain. This is also a project I've long, long been looking forward to, and I can't wait to bring the audience into the story, Lee added.

One of the highlights of Had I Not Seen The Sun is the story itself - full of twists and turns, with never a dull moment. Watching the characters' experiences and transformations naturally draws you in emotionally, making you laugh with their joy and ache with their pain. The cast delivers performances unlike anything they've shown before. I believe audiences, like us, will also fall in love with these characters, allowing the story to leave a lasting place in their hearts, shared producer Ma.

Logline: Had I Not Seen The Sun tells the story of 25-year-old Li Jen-yao, who turns himself in for a series of cold-blooded murders and admits to being the serial Rainstorm Killer, who once terrorized his high school classmates. While he reveals the grisly details of his crimes, he never discloses his motive. In prison, he grants his first-ever interview to Chou Pin-yu, only for her to become entangled in unsettling dreams of both the killer and a mysterious girl in uniform. As dreams and reality intertwine, long-buried secrets of love, hatred, guilt, and redemption resurface.
