Sorenson Media Hires Action Sports & Digital Marketing Veteran Dan Maiman as New Director of Marketing
New Director of Marketing Brings Nearly 15 Years Experience in Product Management, Brand Development and Digital Media
Maiman will Drive All Aspects of Marketing for Sorenson Medias Industry Leading Video Encoding and Publishing Solutions
SAN DIEGO (May 1, 2013) Sorenson Media today announced that it has hired action sports and digital marketing specialist Dan Maiman as its new director of marketing.
Maiman is a highly accomplished marketer, with nearly 15 years of experience in driving strategic brand development and growth, project management and digital media initiatives. Initially tagged by Sorenson Media to direct strategy and implement measures for the marketing campaign surrounding the recently released Sorenson Squeeze 9, Maiman will now oversee all aspects of marketing, creative and branding for the company and its industry-leading video encoding solutions. In his new role, he will be responsible for overall strategy, creative direction, content creation, production, advertising, digital and direct marketing.
We originally brought Dan on because we were impressed by his operational expertise and his deep understanding of video production. We were absolutely blown away with his ability to drive our successful marketing launch of Squeeze 9, as well as overall brand and website realignment, and knew we had to make him a permanent part of the Sorenson Media team, said Peter Csathy, CEO of Sorenson Media. Dan fits perfectly with our long-term objectives for the company, and we are really looking forward to seeing what else comes from his brilliant mind and creativity.
Immediately prior to joining Sorenson Media, Maiman worked at Rockstar Energy as its director of marketing and communications, where he restructured the marketing department to maximize performance, helped launch its new global website, and oversaw its Australian distributor. Prior to Rockstar, Maiman led the global marketing effort at Vans to solidify the company as a premier action sports brand. Part of those efforts included developing the companys mobile marketing program, which resulted in the creation of the first branded mobile video game app and the first live event-streaming app in the action sports industry.
My relationship with Sorenson Media began years ago after integrating Squeeze into the workflow at Vans, and I have never been disappointed with the results achieved using the Sorenson Media products, said Maiman. This company is clearly a respected name in video technology, and with my history in both marketing and digital media, Im looking forward to bringing a different perspective to the brand and being a part of a company that is leading video production into the future.
Earlier in his career, Maiman also held marketing and product development roles at Quiksilver ActionSportsVideos.com, and Market Wire. He holds a bachelors degree in visual communications from Cal State University San Marcos.
